Lough Neagh - Recreation Lough Neagh and its wetlands carry a wide range of recreational activities ranging from walking in nature reserves and country parks, to wildfowling and yacht racing. The Lough and hinterland have a number of tourism focal points including Oxford Island National Nature Reserve, Antrim Castle Gardens and Arts Centre, the Wetlands Park, Bellaghy Bawn, Ballyronan Marina and the Newferry water ski and jet ski area. The rivers entering the Lough also provide opportunities for game and coarse fishing and for navigation in small craft. The main recreational activities are:
Sustainable Recreation Framework In 2005 the Lough Neagh Advisory Committee commissioned a Baseline Information Project and Sustainable Recreation Framework for the Lough Neagh Wetlands. The framework sets out the current situation regarding recreation and tourism provision within the Lough Neagh Wetlands, looks at current development and issues; and provides recommendations on the sensitivity of sites. local people, and the economy in relation to recreational and developmental activity.
